DAVID KERR HITS OUT AT LABOUR 'BROKEN RECORD OF BROKEN PROMISES'

DAVID KERR HITS OUT AT LABOUR 'BROKEN RECORD OF BROKEN PROMISES'

WHY SHOULD LOCAL PEOPLE BELIEVE LABOUR?

SNP HAVE WHAT IT TAKES - MARYHILL TOWN HALL RESTORED

SNP candidate in the Glasgow North East by-election, David Kerr, has hit
out over the empty promises of Labour politicians to restore Springburn
Public Hall.

The hall was built in 1903 and was once a focal point of the local
community but it has lain unused for 45 years and has fallen into a state
of disrepair despite repeated election promises from Labour candidates to
restore it. In contrast, a community effort to restore Maryhill Burgh
Hall, backed by SNP MSPs and councillors, has recently secured Scottish
Government funding.

Speaking outside the Springburn Public Hall where he used a graphic to
demonstrate what the hall looked like in its heyday, Mr Kerr said:

"Springburn Public Hall is testament to Labour's neglect of Glasgow North
East.

"Despite Labour promises to restore it at every election for the past 40
years, it is crumbling. This building is a clear symbol of Labour's
neglect and of Labour's broken record of broken promises.

"If elected, I will fight to see this great building restored to its
former glory and - as an SNP MP - I will deliver.

"Just down the road in Maryhill, SNP councillors and MSPs backed the
Maryhill Burgh Hall Trust's successful bid for £1.8m from the Scottish
Government's Town Centre Regeneration Fund. This was a crucial piece of
funding for the final phase of restoration phase.

"Together with the local community, the SNP have what it takes to restore
Springburn Public Hall."
