SNP SPEAK UP FOR SCOTLAND

SNP SPEAK UP FOR SCOTLAND

SNP CONFERENCE BROADCAST SHOWS POWER OF SCOTLAND’S VOICE

The SNP’s Conference Broadcast tonight will show the power a strong block
of SNP MPs at Westminster will have.

In the broadcast which can be viewed at http://www.snp.org, in which
Scotland’s voice echoes from the cities, towns and mountains of Scotland
to Westminster First Minister Alex Salmond will say:

“The SNP has always stood up for Scottish interests at Westminster. Now
more than ever before, we need a louder ,stronger voice. In the last few
weeks we’ve just seen the party conferences of the London parties, the
last ones before next years election. They all claim to be different, but
the real message from each is just the same. They all have cuts planned
and all have Scotland in their sights.

“It is ever vital, more vital than every before, that Scotland has not
just a real voice at Westminster, but real power after the election.

“We now have or own parliament, our own government in Scotland. The SNP
have put a record number of police on our streets, we’ve frozen the
council tax again and we’ve put in place an economic recovery plan that
this year will protect 15,000 Scottish jobs, But London still holds the
purse string and still holds Scotland back. All this can change and must
change.

“At the election there is a clear choice, We say cut spending on new
nuclear bombs, cut spending on Identity cards, and keep investment in
jobs, in education and the health and wellbeing of our people.

“It will make no different to Scotland whether Labour or Tory wield the
economic knife, but it will make a difference if we have SNP MP’s to speak
for and protect Scotland, to support the Scottish government and to put
forward Scotland’s cause.

“The Labour and Tory battle is the phony war, the real fight is for
Scotland. And we have what it takes to win. SNP.

“We’ve got what it takes to speak up for Scotland.”
