SPRINGBURN WINTER GARDEN 'MONUMENT TO DECADES OF LABOUR NEGLECT'

SPRINGBURN WINTER GARDEN 'MONUMENT TO DECADES OF LABOUR NEGLECT'

'ONLY SNP HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO SEE THIS AREA FLOURISH'

SNP candidate in the forthcoming Glasgow North East by-election, David
Kerr, today (Wednesday) visited the decaying Winter Garden in Springburn.
Mr Kerr described the site as 'a monument to decades of Labour neglect'
and said that only an SNP victory in the forthcoming poll will ensure this
consituency gets the respect and investment it deserves from the council.

The Garden was one of four constructed across the city at the turn of the
century and achieved Grade A Listed Building status in 1985 but shortly
thereafter fell into disrepair.

Speaking from the Winter Garden, Mr Kerr said:

"Just like Springburn Public Hall, the Winter Garden was once a focal
point of this community but it is now a monument to decades Labour neglect.

"Despite successive generations of politicians promising to restore the
Winter Garden to its former glory, nothing has ever happened.

"Similar structures in the East, West and South of the City have been
restored for the enjoyment of local people. Why not in Sprinburn? The
simple fact is, Labour take the people of Glasgow North East for granted.

"Only an SNP victory in this by-election will send a message to the Labour
Council - the people of Glasgow North East deserve better. Together, local
people and the SNP have what it takes to see this area flourish."
