POLL ANALYSIS SHOWS SCOTS TURN TO THE SNP and AWAY FROM LABOUR

POLL ANALYSIS SHOWS SCOTS TURN TO THE SNP and AWAY FROM LABOUR
RED FACES FOR GRAY & MURPHY AS POLLS SHOW SCOTS GO SNP THE MORE THEY SEE OF THE TORIES
As the SNP prepares to hold its third annual conference in Government a further analysis of the Sky News / YouGov daily tracking polls over the last three weeks which, covered the course of the three UK party conferences, not only shows that the SNP support for Westminster strengthened in Scotland the more they saw of the UK parties but that voters in Scotland made a sharp turn to the SNP from Labour the more they saw of the UK Tories.
The findings, based on a week by week analysis, are an embarrassment to Labour’s Iain Gray and Jim Murphy who, in an obvious panic, have attempted to launch another negative campaign against the SNP claiming that they are the party who will stand up against the Tories.
Commenting on the poll analysis and the embarrassment for Labour in Scotland, SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson MP said:
"These results are highly encouraging as the SNP prepares to hold its annual conference. They are also an embarrassment to Iain Gray and Jim Murphy’s and totally undermine their latest bout of scaremongering.
“The perceived wisdom is that after an annual conference each party will receive a poll boost. However this analysis demonstrates that, far from their conference coverage benefiting the London parties, it seems to have resulted in an increase in the SNP vote.
“That the more the people of Scotland see the UK parties the more they turn to the SNP.
“More embarrassing for Labour is that the more the people of Scotland see of the Tories the more likely they are to vote SNP instead of Labour. It would appear this poll exposes Ian Gray's and Jim Murphy's panicked attack on the SNP and their usual attempts to scaremonger.
“This poll shows which party the people of Scotland trust to stand up for Scotland when they see more of the Tories – and it is not the party of Jim Murphy and Iain Gray. They remember the failure of Labour to stand up for Scotland in the 1980's and don't want to revisit those days.
"With our own conference still to come, this analysis shows that the SNP vote is strong and growing, and that we are the only party which presents a real election challenge to Labour’s domination of Scottish politics. Only the SNP can challenge Labour in Scotland and the Tories in the UK.
"Two years ago we outpolled Labour in the Scottish elections – breaking their five decade grip on Scotland. This year we thumped them in the European elections. Now, we are now challenging for the hat trick at Westminster with everything to play for."
