NIMROD MP RESPONDS TO QINETIQ RESIGNATION

NIMROD MP RESPONDS TO QINETIQ RESIGNATION

Responding to news that the chief executive of Qinetiq has resigned a day after the defence firm was criticised in connection with the fatal Nimrod aircraft crash in 2006, Angus Robertson, the MP for Moray, whose constituency is home to the RAF Nimrod fleet at Kinloss, said the resignation was the first sign of the hard hitting review having an impact.

Mr Robertson, leader of the SNP at Westminster and party Defence spokesperson, said:

“This is the first sign of the Nimrod inquiry having a concrete impact. No doubt announcements will follow from BAe and the Ministry of Defence. The hard-hitting Nimrod inquiry makes a whole series of recommendations to put safety first, and the Ministry of Defence must accept them as a priority.”
