LIB DEMS BREAK PROMISE BEFORE LEADER STEPS ON STAGE

LIB DEMS BREAK PROMISE BEFORE LEADER STEPS ON STAGE

TAVISH BLUNDERS BADLY WITH HYPOCRISY ON EDUCATION

SNP Highland MSP Dave Thompson has slammed Lib Dem leader Tavish Scott for
blatant hypocrisy on his education promise.

Today at the LibDem conference he will say "education has to be
protected" and that every part of government, including local councils,
"need to guarantee their commitment".

His statement follows one yesterday by UK party leader Nick Clegg that one
of the Liberal Democrat priorities was to "deliver extra resources, £2.5
billion every year, to our schools".

However both statements are undermined by their party's very own
councillors on Highland Council who have announced proposals to close
schools.

Commenting Mr Thompson said:

"This is just the usual verbiage from the Lib Dems. Say one thing to try
and con the voters whilst doing exactly the opposite in power.

"It's this type of hypocrisy that shows that the Lib Dems are just another
bunch of phoney London politicians.

"It's a massive blunder by Tavish Scott and the Lib Dems in the Highlands.
Whilst they will be proposing school closures, it will be the SNP
championing the cause of local parents and pupils."
