Brian Adam, MSP for Aberdeen North has today welcome the announcement from the Minister for Children and Early Years, Adam Ingram MSP, that there is to be a review into the guidance issued on child protection services.
Speaking after today’s Ministerial Statement Mr Adam said:“I welcome the announcement from the Minister of a review into guidance on child protection services in Scotland and thank him for making a Ministerial statement today on the report into Child Protection Services in Aberdeen.“Aberdeen Council should be commended for providing additional funding for more social workers even in these very tough times and I would also like to pay tribute to the actions of Philip Cotterill in ensuring that the social work department has improved since the investigation and already addressed many of the recommendations of the HMIE report”
Mr Adam continued:“The inspection regime in Scotland should be also be praised for identifying the weaknesses in child protection services in Aberdeen early, in stark contrast to recent concerns over child protection monitoring south of the border, and it is right that we continually work to improve these services and our monitoring of them."
