SCOTTISH FOOTBALL TEAM NOW, TEAM GB NEXT?

SCOTTISH FOOTBALL TEAM NOW, TEAM GB NEXT?

JIM MURPHY FAILS TO STAND UP FOR SCOTTISH FOOTBALL.

TEAM GB YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF SCOTLAND OFFICE LETTING SCOTLAND DOWN.

Pete Wishart MP has expressed outrage after Secretary of State for Scotland, Jim Murphy, failed to stand up for Scottish football.

At Scottish Questions in the House of Commons today (Wednesday), Mr Wishart asked Jim Murphy if he would stop forcing Scotland into a Team GB. Mr Murphy failed to offer any such assurance.

Commenting, Mr Wishart said:

“Football is Scotland's national sport and the people of Scotland take great pride in supporting their national team. Labour may say it is okay to have a single UK team but the people who should really be listened to are the SFA and the Tartan Army.

“All the national supporters' associations in the UK oppose this plan and a majority of the football associations want nothing to do with it.

“The Secretary of State for Scotland has failed to fight for the £1bn of Scotland’s money which the Treasury is withholding. He has failed to stop the planned £1bn to the Scottish Government’s budget. And now the Jim Murphy has failed to stand up for Scotland’s national side.

“When it comes to looking out for Scotland’s interest, the Secretary of State for Scotland certainly is not up for the cup.”
