LABOUR VOTE AGAINST SMALL BUSINESS BONUS

LABOUR VOTE AGAINST SMALL BUSINESS BONUS

LABOUR VOTE AGAINST SMALL BUSINESS BONUS

SNP MSP Joe FitzPatrick today welcomed the publication of the Finance Committee’s report into the Scottish Government’s budget which saw the committee give general backing to the budget proposals and to the Scottish Government’s handling of the current economic problems.
The Committee has put forward no alternative spending proposals.
However he highlighted the failure of Labour and Liberal Democrat members to support the small business bonus and the continuation of the council tax freeze.
Mr FitzPatrick said;
“This year’s budget hearings have so far shown a far more consensual attitude from all parties but have still produced some unbelievable decisions from the Labour party.
“Importantly this report raises real concerns over the impact of the UK Government’s £500 million spending cut and backs the Scottish Government’s action to support Scotland’s economy.
“Unfortunately not only have Labour put forward no alternative spending proposals they voted against real measures to help Scotland’s economy.
“Labour voted against the small business bonus and Labour failed to support the council tax freeze.
“It seems Labour will oppose anything that will help families and support businesses through the credit crunch.”
