SNP WELCOME GLASGOW HOUSING VOTE FOR COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP.

Glasgow SNP MSPs have welcomed the overwhelming vote by tenants in five areas of the city's Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) who have voted to move forward with second stage transfer which will result in community ownership.
Bob Doris MSP said:
"Congratulations to the five Housing Associations for their hard work and to their tenants who voted in their droves, and voted yes to community ownership.
"This may be the first 2,100 houses but it is a clear indication that the SNP Government is serious about community ownership, not one house was transferred under the last Labour-led Executive.
"There are another 21,000 possible houses to be transferred fro the GHA in the pipeline and I would urge the GHA to progress these as soon as possible.
"For the 46,000 not included in the process the GHA must also act to ensure all tenants are offered the chance of community ownership for their homes."
Sandra White MSP said:
"I am delighted that the tenants have voted with their feet. The GHA were set up specifically to bring about second stage transfer and I am glad that this is finally happening"
"This has been a long time coming and with many more in the pipeline we can look forward to more local ownership for tenants
"They are a clear indication of support for more local control over social housing."
