HOMECOMING SCOTLAND 2009 OFFERS HOLIDAY DEALS

HOMECOMING SCOTLAND 2009 OFFERS HOLIDAY DEALS.

LABOUR RUIN YOUR HOLIDAY PLANS.

SNP Westminster Tourism spokesperson, Angus MacNeil MP, has accused the Labour Government of ruining people's holidays, as well as the economy, arguing that the frail pound, fuel surcharges, soaring inflation and rising unemployment had left families less able to afford a family break in 2009.

Mr MacNeil said:

"As people feel the pinch of the Downing Street downturn, luxuries like holidays abroad are bound to be cut back.

"The struggling housing market is weighing on consumer confidence, the pound has been pummelled by the UK's faltering economy.

"Combined with inflationary pressure on everyday costs at home, and uncertainty about people's jobs, holidaymakers are completely scunnered with Labour."

However, Mr MacNeil said there was light at the end of the tunnel, and encouraged people to 'holiday at home' and join the celebration of Scotland's Homecoming 2009.

Mr MacNeil added:

"Taking a break at home in Scotland is the perfect antidote to the frail pound, and a great opportunity to get involved in the Homecoming celebrations.

"2009 will be a fantastic year to invite people from around the world, with either a family link or affinity for Scotland, to come home.

"I would urge everyone in Scotland to play their part in what will be the biggest ever celebration of Scotland's achievements and culture, and our ties of family and friendship around the world."
