BLACK WEEKEND FOR UK PRIME MINISTER GORDON BROWN.
"DOWNING ST DOMINOS FALLING FAST".
Responding to reports in today’s Sunday newspapers that
· Gordon Brown has lost a key work and pensions advisor David Freud
to the Conservatives
· close associates of former Labour Minister Lord Moonie - recently
accused by the Sunday Times of taking cash for access - have been arrested
on corruption charges,
· Labour rebels are forcing a retreat on plans to part-privatise
Royal Mail
· Chancellor Alistair Darling has claimed expenses for a London flat
and his Edinburgh house - despite living in Downing Street
· Evidence of his links to the current problems of the financial
industry is to be revealed by banking whistleblowers
SNP MP for the Western Isles Angus MacNeil said;
“This is a black weekend for Brown.
“The Downing Street dominos are falling fast, and Gordon Brown's judgement
is now increasingly in question.
“With advisors deserting ship while close allies are drawn into dodgy
deals and loyal MPs rebel over government policy Labour’s leadership is in
meltdown.
“First Brown's financial advisors found themselves at the centre of
financial scandals now the man behind the benefits plan is leaving to
advise the opposition.
“Lord Moonie already has one set of questions to answer over cash for
access - now it looks like his corporate allies have had their fingers in
one too many pies.
“And at a time of increasing austerity the Chancellor's cash claims may be
legit but they will not be well liked by those in Edinburgh’s financial
sector who see their jobs on the line as a result of Labour’s economic
mismanagement.
"The evidence is piling up against 'Culpability Brown' . There can be no
escape for Gordon Brown from his responsibility for the recession and the
recurrent problems of the financial sector.
“It’s no wonder people across Scotland increasingly favour the SNP and
independence when they see the self-interest and shameless impact London
leadership has on their lives.”
