HOSIE DEMANDS ANSWERS IN RBS PENSIONS DEBACLE.

‘SPECULATION DETRACTING ATTENTION FROM ISSUES THAT MATTER”

SNP Treasury Spokesperson, Stewart Hosie MP, has written to Lord Myners demanding answers over the Sir Fred Goodwin pension debacle after it emerged that UK Ministers had apparently approved the pension arrangements at the time they were agreed by the RBS Board.

Commenting, Mr Hosie said:

“The implication of the UK Government in approving Sir Fred Goodwin’s pension package is simply breathtaking.

“Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling have been in and out of television studios wringing their hands in condemnation, and then we find out a Labour Minister allowed the package to go through.

“This whole affair has descended into farce with claim and counterclaim about who knew what and when – we need all the facts on the table.

“It’s time for the UK Government to be straight - regardless of how embarrassing that might be – and focus on action and answers which will help the country through this Downing Street depression.”
