ROBERTSON RESPONDS TO RENDITION ADMISSION.

ROBERTSON RESPONDS TO RENDITION ADMISSION.
Commenting on the UK Government’s admission, contrary to previous assurances, that two suspected terrorists captured by UK forces in Iraq were subsequently transferred by the US to Afghanistan, SNP Westminster leader and Defence spokesperson, Angus Robertson MP, said “From day one Labour Ministers seem to have misled us on every aspect of the Iraq war, and these revelations about rendition add to the pressing need for a full inquiry into the UK Government’s conduct. “Given the ongoing dispute over the suppression of evidence on UK collusion in the alleged torture of former British residents, including Binyam Mohamed, this admission is extremely grave. “John Hutton says that the individuals involved in this extraordinary rendition have been treated humanely, but the sad fact is that it is increasingly difficult to accept Labour Ministers at their word. ”Labour’s manifesto pledge that it would conduct an ethical foreign policy, such as it was, is now in complete tatters.”
