SNP MP - WISHART WELCOMES HOME SECRETARY SLEAZE INQUIRY.
SNP Home Affairs spokesperson, Pete Wishart MP, has welcomed news that Home Secretary Jacqui Smith will face a formal sleaze inquiry over her second home allowance.
Mr Wishart said:
”Jacqui Smith faces serious allegations and I welcome confirmation that the Standards Commissioner is now prepared to investigate matters.
”For this latest complaint to have be triggered by the Home Secretary’s own neighbours literally brings these allegations to New Labour’s doorstep.
”The ongoing allegations of sleaze have been a distraction from the Home Secretary’s job, and present real questions over her credibility as a senior minister.”
