SNP DELIVER COUNCIL TAX FREEZE FOR GLASGOW.

SNP DELIVER COUNCIL TAX FREEZE FOR GLASGOW.

Following the passing of the SNP’s historic second budget in the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday (4th) of this week, Glasgow City Council confirmed they will introduce a council tax freeze - backed by Scottish Government funds - for the second year in a row.

Glasgow MSP and member of the Scottish Parliament's Local Government Committee Bob Doris said:

“This is the second year running Glasgow City Council has supported the Scottish Government in implementing the council tax freeze. This further underlines the SNP Government’s unique relationship with local authorities.

“Last year it was reported that a Labour Councillor cried “God bless the SNP Government”, I’m pleased that Glasgow Labour are still in the same frame of mind and are continuing to help the SNP deliver for the people of Scotland.

“This freeze and this week's budget are going to save the average Glasgow resident over £270 and prevent council tax sky rocketing 23% in Glasgow.

“The Council Tax is a discriminatory tax which attacks hard working families, this is why me and my SNP colleagues are working to scrap council tax completely and introduce fair taxation, based on the ability to pay. This is why we are freezing the council tax at the moment, to prevent it doing any more unnecessary damage”.
