‘KICK IN THE TEETH’ AS LABOUR GOVERNMENT IGNORE SCOTLAND’S YOUTH

‘KICK IN THE TEETH’ AS LABOUR GOVERNMENT IGNORE SCOTLAND’S YOUTH

SCOTTISH QUALIFICATIONS DISREGARDED BY HOME OFFICE

Commenting on reports by the Sunday Herald newspaper that HNC and HND certificates are being completely ignored by the Labour run Home Office, the SNP’s Home Affairs spokesperson Stewart Hosie has described it as a ‘kick in the teeth’ to Scotland’s youth.

Mr Hosie said:

“This is utter shameful and sums up this Labour Government’s continued approach of ignoring Scotland and taking her for granted.

“Every year thousands of young people in Scotland work tirelessly to better themselves and further their education through HNC and HND courses. For their hard work and dedication to the course to be completed disregarded is nothing but a kick in the teeth.

“The whole reason the point based system was derived in the first instance was to assure that all qualifications would matter and everyone’s hard work would be properly recognised. To completely disregard a whole set of qualification is an insult to Scotland’s education system, to Scotland’s students and to every young person trying to better themselves through further education.

“The Home Office must correct this immediately and apologise for this massive slap in the face to the young people of Scotland.”
