SNP SLAM TORIES SECOND CLASS TREATMENT OF SCOTLAND

SNP SLAM TORIES SECOND CLASS TREATMENT OF SCOTLAND

TORY GOVERNMENT WOULD STOP HIGH SPEED RAIL LINK AT LEEDS

TORIES ATTEMPTED TO STOP SCOTTISH TEAM FROM USING SALTIRE

Commenting on a report in The Sunday Times today, revealing that the Tories will only budget for a high-speed rail link as far as Leeds, SNP MP Mike Weir, the SNP Business & Enterprise spokesperson said:

“This revelation will shunt the Tories’ already faltering campaign in Scotland into the buffers.

"Yet again, the Tories have shown their total lack of commitment to Scotland, and the opportunities to our economy and environment offered by high-speed rail links.

"David Mundell clearly has no authority in the Tory Shadow Cabinet, otherwise why would he accept such second class treatment for Scotland?”

Mr Weir also commented on the added revelation in the Sunday Times that Mr Thatcher's government attempted to stop the Scottish national football team from using "Scotland the Brave" as its anthem and the Saltire as the national flag at the 1982 World Cup finals.

Mr Weir said:

"The last Tory government plotted to demolish Hampden Park. This latest revelation just reminds us how anti-Scottish the Tories can be.

"It says everything about the Tories’ attitude to Scotland that they seriously attempted to stop the Scottish national football team from using "Scotland the Brave" as its anthem and the Saltire as the national flag.

“The people of Scotland will keep on giving the Tories a red card.
