SNP WELCOME LEGG REVIEW REPORT
SNP Members of Parliament have welcomed the final report by Sir Thomas Legg following his review of the Additional Costs Allowance. The party proactively published the contents of Sir Thomas’ letters in October 2009 and committed to abide by his final conclusions.
Banff and Buchan MP, Alex Salmond, became the only party leader to be given the all-clear by Sir Thomas, as his final conclusions reversed a provisional payment demand.
An SNP spokesperson said:
“Our view has always been that once you call in a referee you abide by the decision, and where Sir Thomas requested further information or repayment it was provided. The priority now should be to put the discredited Westminster expenses system on the same solid, open and transparent footing as that of the Scottish Parliament. It is quite clear that the SNP have emerged from the Legg review with by far the best record of any of the parties.”
