SNP REACTION TO SERVICES COMPENSATION REVIEW

SNP REACTION TO SERVICES COMPENSATION REVIEW

The Scottish National Party (SNP) has welcomed improvements recommended in the Review of the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme conducted by Lord Boyce.

Commenting, Westminster SNP Leader Angus Robertson MP said:

"Our Armed Forces deserve the best possible compensation scheme for injuries or death in service. This review by Lord Boyce has many positive suggestions that will bring real improvements.

"One area of concern remains with the Bereavement Grant, where increases are not being introduced in the fairest way. The grant is correctly being enhanced to keep pace with earnings, but payments are not being graduated back to the start of the scheme in 2005. Hopefully the Ministry of Defence will look at this and make the changes as fair as possible.”
