MORE LABOUR RESIGNATIONS ROCK SPT

Commenting on the resignation of Labour Councillor Davie MacLachlan (South
Lanarkshire) as Vice Chair of SPT, following the resignations of his
fellow Labour chairman Cllr Alistair Watson and the Chief Executive of SPT
in the last four days as revelations over lavish expenses claims mount up
at the public transport body SNP Glasgow Councillor Graeme Hendry who
worked to expose the culture of excess within SPT said:

“These Labour Councillors have left the board of SPT, but Labour must
guarantee that any evidence of wrong doing found by an independent inquiry
will see action taken by the Labour party as well.

“This resignation simply confirms the panic within SPT and Labour across
Strathclyde that there is more information to come out about what their
councillors have been doing with public money.

“SPT is not delivering the service people want and it is clearly not
living up to the standards people have the right to expect.

"With questions unanswered over these expenses it is time for a thorough
independent examination of SPT, of their books, their practices and the
services they are delivering to the people of Glasgow."
