STANDARDS COMMISSIONER DISMISSES LUNCH COMPLAINTS

STANDARDS COMMISSIONER DISMISSES LUNCH COMPLAINTS

The Scottish Parliamentary Standards Commissioner has written to Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon today about the three complaints he received under the MSP Code of Conduct on the auctioning of lunches, in which he says that the complaints: “are not relevant and that there is no evidence of sufficient substance warranting further investigation. I have, therefore, dismissed the complaints”.

A spokesperson for Mr Salmond and Ms Sturgeon said:

“Mr Salmond and Ms Sturgeon have been comprehensively cleared on all counts before the Standards Commissioner. This is a humiliation for the Labour Party and the disreputable campaign which they orchestrated. They didn’t even get to first base with their spurious arguments. The Commissioner’s decision is hugely welcome, a devastating dismissal of Labour’s put up job, and a victory for common sense.”
