GORDON BROWN RUNNING SCARED OVER ROYAL MAIL MP REBELLION.
SNP STANDING UP FOR JOBS AS LABOUR FLIP-FLOP.
Following on from reports that Gordon Brown is to make an embarrassing u-turn on the privatisation of the Royal Mail, the SNP's Postal Affairs spokesperson Mike Weir MP, has welcomed the third climb-down of the week from the Labour Government. SNP STANDING UP FOR JOBS AS LABOUR FLIP-FLOP.
Mr Weir commented:
"The privatisation of the Royal Mail could not happen at a worse time. When people all over Scotland are facing redundancy and fearing for their jobs, the last thing they want is the Postal Service to be put it the hands of private partner whose only concern would be to make a profit. "This could lead to job losses within the Royal Mail and see working conditions plummet.
The SNP believes that the service must remain in public hands and will continue to fight at both Westminster and Holyrood the retention of the publicly-owned Royal Mail. "After being defeated already this week in the commons, Gordon Brown is running scared of his backbenchers. A vote in commons would surely spell defeat to these ill-thought-out plans and would be a victory for the Royal Mail."
