ROBERTSON WELCOMES PARLIAMENTARY PROBE ON UDDIN EXPENSES.

ROBERTSON WELCOMES PARLIAMENTARY PROBE ON UDDIN EXPENSES.

SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson MP has this evening (Tuesday) welcomed news that Labour peer Baroness Uddin is to be investigated over allegations she claimed £100,000 in allowances for a flat that is reportedly lying empty.

Mr Robertson, who has called on both the House authorities and Metropolitan police to investigate whether an offence has been committed, said:

“A formal probe into these allegations was unavoidable, and I welcome confirmation that the Clerk of Parliament is set to investigate.

“That somebody can claim an allegedly unfurnished and unoccupied flat is their main residence beggars belief, and we need full and frank answers from Baroness Uddin.

“As I have said, I am pleased that the House authorities are set to investigate this, but there still remains a question for the police to consider whether an offence has been committed.”
